to practice
styles:
Hatha
Yoga
Well, this term actually refers to
any of the styles employing the poses of the yoga tradition and not
to a particular teaching method, pace or syllabus. All of our
classes are hatha yoga in one form or another.
Ashtanga
A vigorous, flowing practice taught
in a particular sequential order. Ashtanga is a challenging practice
that gradually builds strength and flexibility over time.

These are all offshoots of the
ashtanga system and whatever Portland yoga studio you go to will
have their own idea of pacing and intensity. All are more
improvisational than ashtanga but use many of the same elements:
ujjayi breathing, the ashtanga style sun salutations and the idea of
a flow between poses with vinyasa.

Yoga
Long holds in supported poses
characterize this style.
Kundalini
Yoga
A unique blend of chanting,
meditation, breath of fire and other pranayamas, along with asana
sequences designed for specific results.

- Classical Hatha Tuesday &
Thursday at 5:30pm Join Larry Novick on Tuesdays and Amy Armstrong on
Thursdays for fun, adventurous clases ideal for fit beginners but
also a workout for intermediate level students desiring a
classical practice. We try to cycle through a broad selection of
poses (including inversions and arm balances) while keeping
a contemplative focus with breathwork and an
introduction to various meditation techniques during final
relaxation. Amy's other yoga classes in Portland
include Vinyasa and Prenatal Yoga at Yoga Bhoga. Larry also teaches
the 8am Saturday Classical Hatha program at Yoga Bhoga. Full-time
students can drop-in for $10.

- Early Morning Classical Hatha
Yoga Denise Payne's 6:15 - 7:30 am
classes Monday Wednesday and Friday mornings are a great time to stretch out,
energize and
get your day off to a good start. These classes are always a great mix
of interesting asana sequences, attention to detail and a focus on
breathwork.

- Sunday Mornings with Amy Armstrong
Join Amy Sunday
mornings 9-10:30 am for Classical Hatha Yoga. A great chance
to stretch, strengthen and start the day in a lively fashion. All
levels welcome. Amy also teaches our 5:30 pm
Thursday Hatha
class.
Class Location: Yoga Bhoga
- Kundalini Yoga with Chloe
Beard Saturday from Noon to 1:30 pm and Sunday
afternoons 2:30-4 pm. These are all levels classes. Kundalini yoga is an invigorating masala
of chanting, mudra, chakra meditation, asana work and pranayama
unlike any other style of hatha yoga practice. A dynamic practice
intended to awaken your dormant energies (kundalini) and
ready to start a new week with a meditative
focus.

- Yin Yoga at Yoga
Bhoga! Yin practice involves long
holds in a variety of supported poses (mostly floor work) and
is an effective remedy for the overly tight and
constricted connective tissue that is a result of the aging
process as well as too much active work in sports or
ashtanga style yoga practice. With Teresa Bergen Mondays
3:30-5 pm and Beth James Wednesdays 3:30-5 pm. Also check out
Beth's 5:30 pm Vinyasa / Yin classes Mondays and Fridays.

- Extra Spicy Hatha
Yoga Denise Payne's Wednesday 5:30 pm and
Noon Saturday classes ramp up the pace with a fiery selection of poses
and challenging variations to take your practice to the next level.
These mixed-level classes will keep you alive and challenged.

- Classical Hatha in the Mornings
with Meghan Maris Meghan teaches in a
gentle and methodical style yet her classes always have students
coming out raving about getting a terrific balanced workout. All
levels welcome -- start anytime. Join Meghan Mondays, Wednesdays
and Fridays 10-11:30 am. Meghan also teaches our Vinyasa classes
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am and 7:30 pm.

- Yoga for Back Care on Saturday
Mornings Jake Pflaum teaches this great
class every Saturday from 10 to 11:30 am. This is a gentle, well rounded
hatha yoga class -- great as an introduction to the practice or
for those wanting a class at a moderate pace. Jake does modified
versions of many standard poses with a focus on awareness and body
mechanics. Join us anytime!

- Noon Hatha Tuesdays and Thursdays
Lila Donnolo teaches a terrific
mixed levels class every Tuesday and Thursdays from Noon to 1:15 pm.
Join us for a great mid-day break and start
your afternoon refreshed. There will always be an interesting
selection of poses and noon classses are a wonderful way to sneak
your practice in mid-day and make the afternoon more alive and
productive. Lila also teaches lots of other classes at Yoga Bhoga
including Noon Vinyasa classes Mondays and Wednesdays and
a double feature Sunday evenings: Vinyasa/Acro Yoga at 4:30 and
a Yin/Restorative practice at 6:30pm.

Students and Seniors.
Yoga Bhoga and One Song Yoga are now offering an $8 drop-in rate for
full time students (with ID) and Seniors (over 65) at all
